How do I
know if I need a passport?
You will need some proof of US Citizenship
before boarding. A notarized copy of a birth
certificate with a raised seal and picture identification will
be required. While a passport is not required
for the Bahamas, Bermuda, Caribbean, Mexico, or Canada,
a notarized photo copy of your birth certificate with a raised
seal is necessary.
If you are travelling
to these destinations, a passport is required, Europe, Asia, Africa,
South America, Australia, the Orient, India, etc. Some ports even
require a visa but the cruise line will inform you on proper documentation
in plenty of trim prior to travel or even final payment.
If you are a Non US Citizen, you
must show proof of temporary or permanent residency of the US.
This would include a valid green card, passport from their country
with multiple reentry visas, picture id's and in some cases visas
from the countries they are visiting. Non-US Citizens should contact
thier consulate or embassy with regards to documentation prior
to making your final payments.
What should
I bring on my cruise?
Bring items you would use if you
were going to a resort. Daytime on board is casual while evenings
are more dressy or formal, depending on the night. For the Captain's
Gala, for example, you'll probably want to wear something more
formal, such as a dark suit, or cocktail dress; perhaps even a
dinner jacket or gown.
Is a tuxedo
required?
You probably won't want to purchase
a tuxedo just for the trip. Many ships offer tuxedo rental services
if you desire to wear one. Most of the time, a dark suit and tie
are appropriate for any formal occasion.
What about
my hair dryer or shaver?
Ships have 110-volt outlets in the
staterooms so you should be able to use your hair dryer and shaver.
Hair dryers are included in most ship's staterooms.
Is there
a safe place to keep my valuables on board?
Yes. Most new ships have safes right
in the cabin with instructions on how to use them. If there is
not a safe in the room, the purser's office will have safe deposit
boxes for your use.
Can wheelchairs
be acquired?
It is suggested that, if you require
a wheelchaire, you brinf one of your own. Wheel chairs are available
for passengers who are injured after they get on board, but for
personal use, consider bringing your own collapsible one. Inform
your Cruise Planner if special handicapped facilities are required.
How do we
stay in touch with home?
Many ships have a daily newsletter
with news, headlines, selected stock quotes and staterooms on
many ships are even equipped with televisions. Ships now have
telephones in passenger cabins,so you can make phone calls from
your own cabin or wait until you get into port.
Are there
medical facilities on the ship?
Cruises have fully-equipped medical
facilities and a medical staff to handle almost any emergency.
Are there
laundry facilities?
Laundry facilities and dry-cleaning
services are available on most every ship. There is, however,
an additional charge for professional laundry and dry-cleaning
services. On longer itineries, there are self serve launderettes
on board.
Can I use
cash on board?
All passengers are given an onboard
charge card that usually doubles as their boarding pass to get
back on the ship after a port visit. You can use this card for
all purchases including drinks, souvenirs, shore excursions, boutique
services, spa services, etc. Cash is accepted in the casino, for
gratuities to the staff that served you, and at the purser's desk
to settle you onboard account.
Is there
a way to pre-pay for shore excursions?
Most of the larger cruise lines allow
you to pre-book your shore excursions to their more exotic itineraries
like Europe and the Orient. If
you are travelling with a group of six or more, we can pre-book
your Caribbean and Alaska Tours prior to travel.
