What if I don't plan to spend a lot of time in my cabin?

You may want to consider an "inside guarantee." The rate is often a little lower than the rate for the lowest category on the ship. With this type of booking, you do not receive an immediate cabin assignment, and your cabin assignment could be in any category on the ship. You could receive the lowest category on the ship or the highest. You don't know where you'll end up. It could be the front, back or middle, so if that's a concern to you, we recommend avoiding this pricing program.

Will I ever get a free upgrade?

This does happen and but not as frequently as people think. Upgrades usually go to passengers who book early and buy the lowest catagory cabin. This is called a "Catagory Guarantee" and means that when you book your cruise you do not get a cabin assignment. Most upgrades are from lower inside cabins to higher inside cabins, and the same for outside cabins. Passengers rarely go from an inside cabin to an outside cabin

Your chances of an upgrade are very small if you are assigned a cabin when you deposit on your cruise. Cabin assignments on guarantees are usually made between a few weeks and the day of sailing. If you don't want to be at the front, back, top, bottom,or under the dining room, then don't take the chance. Take your cabin assignment at the time of booking.

If I'm concerned about motion, which location is best?

If it's available, you should request a cabin that is relatively close to the middle of the ship. Motion sickness shouldn't be a major concern on today's ships. These ships are fully stabilized making your cruise comfortable in virtually any location. You may want to look for a cabin that's closer to the bottom of the ship. To get your ideal location, remember to book early!

Should I pay extra for an oceanview?

The biggest advantage of having an oceanview cabin is that it makes your cabin seem so much bigger and gives you some perception of time. For some, an oceanview cabin is worth it for this reason alone. Some clients feel that the extra cost is not worth and would rather spend their money on excursions, etc.

We highly recommend upgrades on cruises to Alaska. Daylight hours are long and the scenery in beautiful.

How many people will fit into my cabin?

Carnival and Disney all have ships that sleep five in one cabin. These cabins have a tendency to go fast, so book early. The standard on most cruise ships are accommodations for two passengers.

What is the difference between upper deck and lower deck?

Deluxe Cabins and Suites are on the higher decks of the cruise ship. A Standard Inside Cabin and Oceanview Cabin are basically the same on any deck. The difference becomes evident in the Cat 11 and Cat 12 Demi-Suites and Suites.

There are basically for types of cabins. Inside Cabins are cabins without windows. Oceanview Cabins are the same size as Inside cabins but have either a port hole or a window. Deluxe Cabins are the same size as an ocenaview but have private balconies which can add square footage to the room. Suites are much larger with a private verandah.
