Why are your rates better?

Since we are a Top Producing Cruise Only Travel Agency, we have better buying power than over 90% of the travel agencies across the country. We also buy in bulk. Often we have group rates that most travel agents don't have. We know immediately of special regional, last minute, and senior incentives. We are trained to look for the best deal afloat.Because we specialize in cruises, we are very good at finding the best prices.

Should I book early or wait for a discount at the last minute?

It is usually better to book early. If a better promotion comes along after your book your trip, the cruise lines will often lower your rate.Listed below are some guidelines for booking your cruise.

Always book early (6-8 months in advance) if you want a specific cabin, it is an inaugural cruise, you are not flexible with dates, it is a holiday cruise, you need multiple cabins, you are particular about seating times at dinner or you are using frequent flyer tickets. Most passengers book 8-18 months inadvance because you can always cancel, although, refund of the deposit can take as long as two months.

Book late if you have no preferance for cabin location, you have lots of flexibilty, or you can drive to the port

Will you book me on short notice?

Have your FamilyCruiseDiscounts.com agent check or visit FamilyCruiseDiscounts.com for periodic updates. Some of the most popular cruises sometimes have space available because of late cancellations. We recommend to get exactly the ship, cabin, and sailing date you want, you should plan and book early.

Are there Senior Citizen Discounts? Family Cruise Discounts? Short Notice Discounts?

Anyone can qualify for a senior rate provided one of the passengers in the cabin is 55 years old or older. Sometimes these rates can be $50 to $100 per person lower than the normal rates. dfwcruises.com will post Senior Rates on the Internet as they become available.

Family Rates are programs that cruise lines use to fill the third and fourth berths on cruises on soft sailings. To help fill a ship, the cruise line may reduce their rate to $99 or even offer free passage to 3rds and 4ths. We will post these specials as well.

Short Notice Discounts are less popular than they used to be. Now cruise lines are filling their ships with early booking discounts. As much as three months prior to sailing, they can tell if they need to offer specials to fill the ship. If they do, they'll offer Past Passenger Discounts, Senior Rates , and Regional Promotions, and then drop the rates if necessary. If you book early and the price comes down after putting down your deposit, the cruise line will often lower your rate to the new promotion. You should always book early if possible.

Why are the rates in the Sunday paper never available ?

Often times, these rates are in January are often for sailings during the most affordable week in the fall and on the shortest cruise. The pricing is based on the lowest category on the ship and are sold out by the time you call. $199 would be for a three night cruise in a bunk bed cabin without airfare and port charges. This type of advertising is very misleading.

Can I just with the cruise line directly?

We are a Top Producer with most cruise lines, we often get special rates that are not available to other travel agents or the general public. At dfwcruises.com, you receive world class customer service. Most cruise lines have hundreds of reservations agents, and to themyou are just another passenger. You can make reservations with some cruise lines, but usually this is not to your advantage. If you do decide to book through the cruise line, they will release your reservation to the agency of your choice before final payment.

Can I get a free upgrades?

This does happen and but not as frequently as people think. Upgrades usually go to passengers who book early and buy the lowest catagory cabin. This is called a "Catagory Guarantee" and means that when you book your cruise you do not get a cabin assignment. Most upgrades are from lower inside cabins to higher inside cabins, and the same for outside cabins. Passengers rarely go from an inside cabin to an outside cabin

Your chances of an upgrade are very small if you are assigned a cabin when you deposit on your cruise. Cabin assignments on guarantees are usually made between a few weeks and the day of sailing. If you don't want to be at the front, back, top, bottom,or under the dining room, then don't take the chance. Take your cabin assignment at the time of booking.

What if I want to extend my cruise vacation?

These extensions are usually available through the cruise line and do not include transfers or a rental car. dfwcruises.com can arrange land packages at the same time you book you cruise to extend your vacation fun.

Do you recommend cancellation insurance?

We highly recommend cancellation insurance to protect your vacation investment. If you cancel your cruise without insurance, after final payment, you will suffer penalties. It could be as little as $50 per person or could be the full cost of the trip. The cruise line is not sympathetic to heart attacks, death or the loss of your life savings. Without insurance, you will not get your money back after final payment. Ask your agent for a brochure explaining it in more detail.

Insurance buys you peace of mind.
